3. Her claims about suddenly becoming a moderate, while leading the destruction of Title IX women’s rights to privacy in their dressing rooms or fair competitions in sports with other biological women, support for butchering babies who are able to breathe on their own after the 7th month, applauding the permanent sexual sterilization of children still in the Santa Claus stage, demanding the destruction of an independent Supreme Court, and pushing for the right to vote for the millions of illegal aliens she invited illegally into the US: Pure Hypocr…
It was around this time that I stopped resisting the label of Democrat. I had clung to my status as an independent because it gave me a sense of aloof superiority over partisans. But now, I saw that there was basically no scenario under which I was willing to vote for a Republican at the national level. Our worldviews and policy priorities were too diametrically opposed. And that remains the case to this day. I’m not in love with the Democratic Party, but I’m a Democrat by default. I’m not kidding. I worked for Democrats through several election cycles, when I was still under the illusion that they could still be the party of, say, Kennedy or pre-Obama-administration Joe Biden, or William Proxmire. I had no idea we were headed toward this pit of victimspeak and identity politics, and absolute, obstinate denial of realities right in front of them (European immigration disasters, holes in our own vetting system, mass-murderers clearly motivated by violent Islamic fundamentalism, etc.), the minimizing of cop-killer rhetoric, and so on. The party has become a safe space — complete with crayons and teddy bears — for all kinds of elitist white-bread fantasy-indulgence and the undissuadable preferring of ideologically-induced fantasies over the observably and undeniably real.
The more times I replay that line in my head, the more artificial it seems. I had a moment of pity for her when I first heard it. But to be fair she is my least favorite candidate. She is Hillary 2.0. Those who are inclined to vote for her already may be galvanized by this. It’s called a snappy comeback, making lemonade when you’re handed lemons. Smart Harris move to turn Vance’s puerile insults into merch. According to Vance women are merely child-bearing machines and so are not fulfilled in life if they do not bear children. Or that someone cannot be invested in the future of the country if they are not parents. I guess we should all as a nation be pretty happy nobody told George Washington that.
