Rugby jersey numbers are assigned on a game-by-game basis by position played. So a named player is not given a number that he or she uses game-in, game-out – depending on the starting roster for that match, players wear the number for their position for that game. The fullback is 15, the wings are 11 and 14, the centers are 12 and 13, standoff or fly half is 10, scrum half is 9, the number 8 is… number 8. The flankers are 6 & 7, the second row players are 4 & 5, and the front row are 1, 2, & 3.
